Event Highlights: Recent Events
3rd Annual Mt. Diablo Run
We had another fine trip up
Mt. Diablo to enjoy the view, though when we were out of the sun we surely had
our heaters on! This time, as the park was not too crowded, we were able
to stop by Rock City and check out the interesting sculpted rock caves
there. (MORE
pictures!)
Mystery Run #1
Delta’s first “Mystery Run” was well-attended and
enjoyed by all.
The combination of backroads, a
cool/windy (brief!) stop by SF Bay,
high and low speed driving, ending up
with a great lunch was deemed
a success. Fog threatened to block out the sun but the rain we were
concerned about never materialized.
Mystery Run #2
Larry’s follow-up “Mystery Run #2” was also a fun success, taking
folk across the Delta and up to Jackson for sightseeing and some play at the
tables. Summer isn’t even here, yet
Delta members are out having a ball!

DMC Member Dinners
February saw us at our usual hangout, Mia's restaurant, for good food
and a fun time planning Cathy & Dave's August Clear Lake weekend event.
In March, we had our first member-selected alternative location dinner
(recall that on even-numbered months we meet at Mia's; on odd-numbered months,
we meet at a restaurant whose location varies around our Delta countryside, so
that other members can join in who may live closer to other sites). A
good time was again had by all. . .
Our April 12th dinner will be back at Mia’s, as it is on
even-numbered months.
April's meeting will be back at Mia's -- anyone taking on May?
Perhaps somewhere along the 680 corridor, or even 580? Maybe further out
in the Valley, Rio Vista or Lodi? Please contact Gaylon to arrange for a
restaurant of YOUR choice!
Don’t forget these neat events coming in the near future:
·
Tuesday May 10th, 7 PM – Member dinner at
Marie Callendar’s --
1101 S California Blvd, Walnut
Creek, (925) 943-7100
· Saturday April 16th – Gaylon’s Tax Free Run. This Delta fun run wends its way through the beautiful Vaca Hills and down along the edge of the wine country. (info)
· Saturday May 7th – Graeme’s “Stewart’s Point Run” – This SAMOA event is a full day of spirited driving (but not fast) through awesome scenery from Davis to the Coast and back along the famous Skaggs Springs and Stewart’s Point Roads (info)
Check the calendar for other
events also, including events sponsored by other clubs that we thought you might
be interested in.
We're keeping the website
calendar pretty much up to date -- check it often to see if there's anything
interesting coming up!
Another TWO-MIATA Membership!
Gaylon and Connie have enjoyed their Miata so much
that Connie is now the proud owner of a "Birdie", a powder blue Miata
(complete with hardtop!) of her own to take her here and there -- congratulations,
Connie! Meanwhile, we've gained two members to our group, Chris and
Hollie and their '94 Montego Blue, which they're sprucing up (just added a roll
bar), which we all had to check out in the parking lot after our March dinner.
Of course, then there are our new members Tom &
Marna, who have three. . .
Hey
everyone – just to let you know, we will publish certain articles at a members
request even if it is not related to club events or news. These articles can be either items for sale
(generally Miata related) or they can be for other important events. If you, as a Club member, wish something
published, please send it to the newsletter editor.
Also, my own Gina has picked up some new
hardware. I was on a casual drive a while back when one of our cars had
an unusual event and rolled. I saw the results, saw the protection that
car's roll bar had offered, and ordered one myself. Installation was
performed by the highly skilled folk at P R Motorsports, in Hayward, who have
become one of Delta Miata Club's preferred vendors, and I highly recommend
their place for work of this type and for virtually any Miata-related task.
