We
have our insurance in place now, which is a good thing for every club
member. We were able to obtain
insurance without needing to incorporate (yes!), using the same company
that insures SJVMC, whose leaders are lawyers (so I think we’re OK!) We’ll still exercise the usual caution in
our events, but at least now we’ll be protected from catastrophic consequences should
the unthinkable occur. This allowed us
to run our Mt. Diablo event (see picture taken at the summit) with a delay of
only one week, and Cathy Spooner’s Jackson run is on its original schedule of
March 22nd.
At the same time, we all know our club is, really, all of us. The Board works to keep things moving ahead in a planned fashion, but nothing gets done unless folk step up to the plate and help us help each other. Please consider stepping forward to fill the positions that Bob Retzer has vacated: the PR/Membership Director and the Newsletter Editor. To continue the fine work that Bob has launched, we need two club members to fill those positions, and quickly. Please contact any Board member soon to discuss how you can help.
Please remember to wear your nametags to the events and meetings so that we can all get to know each other more (and so I can learn names, too!) Those who don’t have them may order them by contacting Mary Diamond.
Finally,
I want to encourage all of you to get out and enjoy this great weather we are
so lucky to have in California. It’s
not freezing, it’s not snowing – we don’t have many tornados or even serious
earthquakes, so any day is a good day for a Miata run! I recently went on the 10th
Anniversary Coastal Run with SJVMC and the sun blessed us the whole time (well,
except at night, when I loyally represented Delta Miata Club by going on stage
with the Karaoke mike for the first time in my life!) The Clovis Poker Run is coming up and is another fine California
Miata tradition (9th year) for you to consider in your plans, too.
Spring is around the corner – see you at the next meeting!
