In 2003, as your
new President, I hope to help us all discover even more fun times
together. Many of you know how much I enjoy driving "Gina", my
'01 Classic Red LS/6 - so don't be surprised to find more driving
events - easy cruises and spirited runs, short morning outings,
day events and possibly a weekend excursion -- it all depends
on what you members want and who will step forward to host each
activity, with mentoring support from experienced run leaders
always on call if needed. I've rolled up 19,000 miles on Gina
during this last year, the vast majority of which has been on
fun events with Delta Miata Club and other clubs throughout the
state and I hope to bring that experience back into Delta during
this upcoming year.
I look forward
to working with Mary Diamond as our Vice President/ Secretary
- she brings enthusiasm and creativity with her new role. Linda
Derby will pick up the financial reins as Treasurer, an important
role for a club with a small budget such as ours. Bob Retzer's
continuing role as Membership/PR Director will help Delta Miata
Club attract new members and also stay in touch with national
Miata activities, vendors and other supporters. Our important
volunteer positions, such as Bonni Weatherwax as Tech Director
and WebMistress, as well as Bob's role as Editor of our monthly
newsletter, will continue to bring us useful and interesting information
as the year progresses.
Your board will
be working behind the scenes to help keep the Club moving smoothly
forward, but we depend on suggestions, guidance and feedback from
all Club members to determine the directions the Club will take.
I hope to enhance our communications this year through easier
access to email (for those who wish to receive it) and fax/phones
as needed to get the word out quickly regarding upcoming events
and other Club activities.
But it's up to
all of us to continue making Delta Miata Club a fun and worthwhile
club in which to share the fun of our Miatas. I look forward to
working with each and every member during these next 12 months
of twisty roads, new destination discoveries, parties, dinners,
good friendship and interesting events for all.
