Grand Island Mansion Holiday Party Bash
by Betty Retzer
Did
we plan the best time slot or what? The rain held off for us
until the drive home. Hopefully everyone made it back home without
much trouble.
The mansion was everything everyone said about it. The food
was wonderful and the presentation was just as beautiful. A
special treat was provided when the Antioch Choral group sang
several Christmas carols. They were really great!
We moved downstairs to the ballroom for our business meeting - that
worked out so well as we didn't disturb anyone's meal and we could
be our rowdy selves. Shirley basically saying "let's just
re-elect everyone already in office" hurried along the election of
2002 officers. I am wondering if she was afraid that her name
was going to be added to a nomination here or there! Thanks to
everyone for "volunteering" for another year.
Our vendors really came through for us - we had some very special
gifts and because of their generosity, we were able to give everyone
some sort of prize.
Several members have already renewed for next year - YEAH! and thank
you. Helena won a free membership (even after she had written
out her check for renewal). So - don't be left behind, send in
your renewal now - it's only $24.oo.
And the really exciting thing is that we have lots of events being
planned. Here's what we have so far (details will follow
later):
January - open February - open
March - open April - Burney
May - Kris June - Rick
July - Retzer/Diablo Mazda
August - Don/Shirley
(2 events) Misti/John September - op
October - open November - open
December - holiday party (first weekend)
So don't be shy - please sign up for one of the open months.
Remember that it doesn't need to be fancy or involved. We just
want to get together and have some fun.
We may even get a new member from our Grand Island adventure - as we
parked our cars, the person who had been in front of us said that he
just bought a red, 2001 and didn't know there was a club.
Well, now he knows!
